Talent Acquisition Specialist
Our client is looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join their team in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will be working closely with a team to source top talent, manage the candidate relationship, and provide an efficient and excellent experience throughout the recruitment process.
 
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
 
Talent Acquisition (80%)
  • Within the assigned client portfolio, the TA Specialist is responsible for the planning and execution of full cycle recruitment to all individual contributor roles (casual, term, and permanent) across the organization, including:
    • Create innovate and attractive job postings, in accordance with organization guidelines.
    • Discuss marketing and advertising strategies with hiring leaders to generate a strong and diverse candidate pool.
    • Develop pre-screening questions as required.
    • Conduct phone or virtual meeting pre-screening calls as required.
    • Develop the screening criteria for hiring leaders and screen resumes accordingly, as required.
    • Contact candidates to arrange interviews, including booking appropriate meeting rooms for in-person interviews.
    • Prepare draft interview guides for hiring leaders to consider and finalize.
    • Facilitate the collection and completion of Confidentiality Agreements.
    • Participate on interview panels, as required. If participating, providing objective feedback on candidates interviewed.
    • Prepare interview meeting material packages for hiring panels.
    • Prepare and present salary recommendations to hiring leaders.
    • Complete all pre-employment checks (e.g., criminal records checks, vulnerable sector checks, education verification checks, reference checks, etc.)
    • Make verbal offers to the candidates and facilitate offer negotiation as well as prepare written offers.
    • Answer or facilitate the answering of candidate’s questions as required.
    • Provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates upon request.
  • Provide a consultative approach to talent acquisition - ensuring the entire process delivers a positive and effective experience for hiring leaders and candidates through effective coaching, planning, communication, and delivery of outcomes.
  • Learn the business for areas within assigned client group and develop strong relationships with hiring leaders. Equip hiring leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to support the recruitment process.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners to ensure updated and robust job descriptions are submitted prior to proceeding with job postings.
  • Comply with Collective Agreements, Terms and Conditions of Employment and organization’s Policies and Procedures in relation to application of compensation and salary placements.
  • Show due diligence in the maintenance and storing of all records related to a competition.
  • Proactively source talent by leveraging networks and utilizing LinkedIn Recruiter to identify and attract qualified candidates (active and passive candidates).
  • Update the Recruitment Tracker to ensure regular and accurate reporting of talent acquisition metrics.
Other (20%)
  • Actively participate in Talent Acquisition process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the developing, implementing and maintaining Talent Acquisition practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to candidate inquiries in Careers inbox.
  • Respond to internal employee inquiries related to talent acquisition matters.
  • Manage the process for adjusting pay grids after further education advancement for Faculty employees.
  • Put forward training ideas and co-facilitate training sessions that enhance the skills of leaders.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare reports/recommendations as needed.
  • Participate in working groups/committees as relevant.
  • Keep abreast of new practices emerging in Talent Acquisition and make recommendations to regularly evolve the function.
  • Engage in professional development activities that ensure that skills are maintained to keep up with changes and trends in Talent Acquisition.
  • Assist with company-wide events that support the learner experience (e.g., wayfinding, speaking at or participating in student learning experiences in the HR program etc.).
 
Your strengths include:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in talent acquisition is preferred.
  • Diploma or degree in human resources, management, business, commerce, or related field. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Working towards or hold a Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, SAP or other applicant tracking systems is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Excellent business acumen.
