Recruitment Partners is on the search for a Financial Reporting Analyst to join our client’s team. The role will report to the Supervisor of Corporate Reporting, and is responsible for coordinating the accurate and efficient completion of monthly and quarterly accounting. In addition, it assists in the preparation of various operating reports for all management levels and provides reliable information to management as required. This role is part of the corporate reporting and accounting team and liaises with business and other corporate groups on a regular basis. Prepares select components of quarterly consolidated financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) to be used in the MD&A and Financial Statements filed on SEDAR.
Prepares schedules and backup information for select Financial Statement notes and MD&A, by ensuring accuracy of information through analysis and explanation of variances.
Prepares monthly journal entries and associated reconciliations, including investigating and documenting reasons for variances.
Processes monthly IFRS 16 lease schedule entries, review for completeness and communicate anomalies.
Reviews project journals, allocations and project capitalization entries.
Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by team members.
Provide support to the external auditors, by providing necessary schedules and answering related inquiries.
Preparation of schedules and supporting documents for the Company’s Board and Audit Committee meetings.
Collaborate effectively with other cross-functional teams within the organization, by providing accounting perspective on initiatives and communicate Finance policies and procedures.
Prepare and /or review data submissions and answer questions from Statistical reporting authorities in Canada and U.S.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Accounting designation (i.e CPA) or designation in near completion stage coupled with relevant work experience.
Minimum 4 years work experience, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
Experience in activities related to month-end closing and corporate reporting is preferred.
Working knowledge and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, able to research the handbook.
Experienced in the use of relational database systems (eg. D365) and proficient with Windows-based applications including spreadsheet, word processing and database software.
Adaptable, innovative, and a well-organized team player.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with both field and office staff.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide meaningful and applicable information to management in an effective and efficient manner.
