Controller
Our client is looking for a Controller to join their team in Edmonton. In this role you will be working directly with the CFO to build and maintain company strategy, while managing risk. A successful candidate will have senior accounting experience and feel comfortable reviewing, modifying, and creating policies and procedures. This robust Senior Accountant position has very strong growth potential. You will be leaned on to represent the organization, interacting with external parties as a professional, while acting in the best interest of the business. This opportunity comes with the ability to participate in company decision making and make an impact on the business.
Your success will be defined by your ability to: - Create budgets and provide detailed forecasts, while comparing actuals to budget
- Present key financial reporting to executives
- Provide guidance on company direction and support the company vision for the future
- Develop and track meaningful KPIs
- Be a strategic partner to the business
- Manage the company’s treasury needs, including cash flow reporting
- Lead and mentor the accounting department
- Support job costing and tracking of projects
- Be the company’s insurance subject matter expert
- Negotiate contracts, such as leases, preferred vendor agreements, etc.
- Liaise with other departments, lawyers, bankers and union representatives
- Be the audit lead for yearend (and other audits as required)
Your strengths include: - CPA designation is strongly preferred
- MUST HAVE 4+ years experience in a senior role within the accounting department of a Manufacturing company.
- Exposure to changeover implementation would be an asset
- Excellent Microsoft Suite skills
- Experience with payroll and HR processes and functions is an asset
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about company financial details
- Ability to take charge when needed and manage people
- Strong analytic skills and accounting technical knowledge
- Establish rapport and relationships with management and subordinates by providing support and mentorship
