Construction Manager Our client is searching for a Construction Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for ensuring all assigned projects are delivered safely, consistently and effectively and are profitably managed and compliant. A successful candidate will support building the brand b providing world class service quality to all stakeholders. This role reports directly to the VP of Operations and is based out of Sarnia, Ontario.

- Adopt broad business concepts and apply them to enhance profitability, grow the business, and set organizational policies
- Be Accountable for the Commercial Agreements process from bid/RFP through completion of a project to close out
- Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecasts data to determine department or division progress toward company goals and objectives
- Oversee assigned strategic account management, product service lines, department and functional goals and budgets, and manage performance against those plans
- Oversee and direct the assigned area’s operation management with responsibility for multiple customers and accounts within the business unit, including P&L responsibility as well as business development responsibility
- Accountable for completion of assigned jobs to the region and customer satisfaction within defined profitability metrics and deadlines
- Collaborate with Site Managers on multiple projects and ensure scope, job efficiency and productivity
- Develop and ensure compliance with annual operations and capital budgets
- Support the process of continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction
- Play a key role in the development initiatives, including creating and maintaining relationships with key decision makers within assigned and targeted customers
- Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined, understood and executed
- Ensure that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with company policy and controls and local, provincial and federal regulations and laws governing business operations
- Ability to understand and interpret contracts and support the execution of change orders within limits of DOA
- Develop and build sales relationships within both the company and customer’s organization by cross selling the product and service offerings
- Maintain communication with regional leadership and Business Development to ensure customer’s needs are met
- Assist in resolving customer issues and discrepancies
- Ensure coordination of Regional Operations with Asset Management and Staffing on planning and scheduling
- Work with Business Development and Estimating to oversee the transition of the job from sales to operations utilizing the Healthy Start process
- Monitor project construction execution
- Monitor KPIs and assists Project Managers in developing targets and corrective action plans when results are out of compliance
- Ensure implementation and continually monitor Quality Control plans
- Ensure work processes and procedures are consistently applied to the project
- Ensure compliance with the company’s procurement process in support of vendor evaluations
- Collaborate with Regional Management and Project Controls to perform job tracking post-mortem and lessons learned for continuous improvement
- Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor those with less experience
- Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor
Your strengths include: - Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized post secondary institution
- 5+ years of project management experience
- PMP and PMI certification or equivalent is preferred
- Supervisory experience with knowledge of employment practices such as hiring and termination, discipline, attendance, employment regulations, pay practices, etc. is required
- A high degree of technical ability to read and interpret engineering plans
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word
